We are still here!

Despite our advancing years and the uncertainties brought by Avian Influenza, we continue to rear and supply turkey poults from our farm in North Cheshire.

Many of our longstanding clients have been in touch to see whether we intend to rear poults this year. For the first time we have contacted some of our larger customers to enquire whether they intend to buy poults from us. It has been a difficult decision made harder by the news that the price of the bought in day old birds will rise by £2 per bird. Added to this energy prices have soared (we use a lot of LPG and electricity to rear poults) as has the cost of wood shavings we use for bedding. In fact, the only cost which seems to be easing slightly is the price of feed. Given these factors there will have to be a substantial price increase this year to make it worthwhile to continue our business.

Nevertheless, for the most part we enjoy what we do. Our customers feel like old friends and the opportunity to deliver to them round the country allows us to visit places we otherwise wouldn’t.

Therefore, once again we will supply growers to produce various popular weight birds for Christmas. We can only deliver larger orders but can sometimes accommodate smaller orders if near to an existing larger delivery.
